Shelton students were among those competing at the Fairfield Regional History Day on March 21 at Fairfield University.

More than 300 students from 16 towns presented their History Day projects to judges during the event.

Shelton students who placed in the Junior Division include Kyle Young of Shelton Intermediate School, second place for Individual Website (General Patton); and SIS students Jonathan Dias and Isaiah Merced, third place for Group Website (History of the Klu Klux Klan).

History Day participants could choose to present their projects, based on this year’s theme of Leadership and Legacy in History, in one of the five categories — exhibits, documentaries, websites, papers, and performances.

Students in grades 6-8 competed in the Junior Division and students in grades 9-12 competed in the Senior Division. Students who placed in the top three in their respective categories and divisions now can compete in the State History Day Contest on May 9 at Central Connecticut State University.

History Day in Connecticut is an affiliate program of the National History Day program; learn more at www.ct.nhd.org.
