Many of Eastern Connecticut State University’s highest-achieving students were recognized at the Honors Program Senior Reception on May 14. In addition to taking honors level courses and maintaining a high GPA, students admitted to Eastern’s competitive Honors Program must complete an honors thesis, an in-depth, original work of scholarship.

Jessica DeFelice ’16 of Shelton, who majors in Political Science and Economics, was recognized at the event. DeFelice’s senior thesis is titled “Women’s Route to Elective Office in the United States.” Upon graduating from Eastern, DeFelice plans to pursue a career in public policy.

Emily Komornik ’16 of Shelton, who majors in History and English, was recognized at the event. Komornik’s senior thesis is titled “The Rhetoric of Rebellion: A Comparison of the great Awakening and American Revolution, 1737-1783.” Upon graduating from Eastern, Komornik plans to work at Yale University before pursuing a career practicing law.
